Brushing and Joint Compression

IM trains the brain with in time and space, but a few of the students that I see have sensory systems that can slow IM training down if not addressed. In house I will do a variety of activities to help calm excited sensory systems in order to move forward with our training. Brushing with joint compression is one that I will share with you here.

Buying the brushes

Body Brushing Article

You can get the brushes at Mun's medical supply just north of 29th on Gage for just about a dollar - ask for  surgical scrub brush. Hospitals also often give them out to new moms to brush the newborns hair with and well as to use in surgery prep.

Brushing and joint compression are very helpful for sensory integration and works best if as many people as possible can help to implement the program. Here is what Patricia Walbarger, the creater of the program, wrote about implementing the program. Note that I am not recommending nor endorsing the use of this technique to individuals that may read this post but am simply offering connections for you to check out and evaluate on you own.
