Many individuals gain signifantly in the speed at which they complete tasks after IM training. This study may help explain why.
Research at the California Institute of Technology, scientist used fMRI's to look at specific regions of the brain for specific skills sets. They found that though many cognitive skills are located in specific regions, processing speed is scattered through out the brain. Are processing speed and timing related? If so, is that why we see gains in IM in all areas of development - social, emotional, physical and cognitive? Improvement is scatttered through out the brain too? Many individuals gain signifantly in the speed at which they complete tasks after IM training. On average I would say, homework that use to take 2 hours each night now only takes one hour. IM seems to impact processing speed, which is located through out the brain, not in a specific location.
